Programs Managed Under Express Entry

Express Entry manages applications under the following federal immigration programs:

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) – for professionals with foreign work experience
Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) – for qualified tradespersons
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) – for individuals with skilled work experience in Canada

Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

The Canadian Experience Class is designed for skilled workers and graduates who have already gained valuable work experience in Canada. This program recognizes your contribution to the Canadian workforce and rewards candidates who have successfully adapted to life and work in Canada.

Having Canadian work experience shows that you understand the local job market and can integrate smoothly into Canadian society. Whether you are currently living in Canada or have worked here within the past few years, the CEC provides a reliable and efficient pathway to Permanent Residency.

CEC – Eligibility Overview

  • Canadian Work Experience
A minimum of one year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years, in occupations classified under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the NOC system. Experience must be full-time or equivalent part-time.
  • Legal Authorization
All work experience must have been gained while holding valid temporary resident status in Canada.

  • Province of Residence

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is one of Canada’s longest-standing immigration pathways, created to attract skilled professionals from around the world. Now managed through Express Entry, the program focuses on candidates with strong education, work experience, and language skills who can contribute to Canada’s economy.

FSWP is ideal for individuals with foreign work experience who are seeking permanent settlement in Canada.

FSWP – Core Requirements

A minimum of CLB 7 in all four language abilities (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in the primary official language. Additional points may be earned for proficiency in a second official language.
