Who Is Eligible to Apply?
To qualify under the Start-Up Visa program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Eligible Business Ownership
Each applicant must hold at least 10% of the voting rights in the business. Together with the designated organization, applicants must control more than 50% of the voting rights. The business must be incorporated and actively operated in Canada.
Letter of Support
Applicants must obtain support from a designated Canadian organization. Once approved, a letter of support is issued, and the organization submits a commitment certificate directly to immigration authorities.
Language Ability
A minimum language level of CLB 5 in English or French is required.
Settlement Funds
Applicants must show sufficient funds to support themselves and their family after arriving in Canada. Required amounts depend on family size and are updated annually.
